Leucistic Penis Envy Uncut (LPEU) is a rare mutation of Penis Envy Uncut. It is quite stable in terms of the leucism, but does contain some variability, and was popularized in 2020. Another sought after cultivar, Albino Penis Envy Uncut, had originated from LPEU spores as well. The title “uncut” refers to the membranous annulus (the ring present around the stem after the veil ruptures) that the original Penis Envy cubensis lacks.
What does "Leucistic" mean?
This refers to a partial loss of pigmentation, which gives the mushroom a pale or whitish appearance. It's not to be confused with albinism, which is a complete lack of pigmentation. Leucistic varieties of animals and fungi lack full pigmentation in specific cells, whereas albinos lack melanin entirely.

Once a mushroom fruiting body has reached maturiy, the cap is separated from the stipe and placed on aluminum foil.
