Great White Monster (GWM), a Psilocybe cubensis variety, is relatively new and is believed to have been discovered by mycologist “NHMI”. Supposedly GWM was a cross between Puerto Rican and Albino A+ that was accidentally exposed to ammonium siloxane causing fruits to grow with albino pigmentation. This origin story cannot be confirmed, and others say GWM is simply an isolation from Albino A+.
Great White Monster is often confused with Great White North or Great Northern White because fruits grow white due to the pigmentation. As with other albino varieties, GWM reportedly takes longer but is well worth the wait for these monsters!
Frequently Asked Questions
A Mushroom Spore Print is the first (or last!?) stage in the reproductive lifecycle of a fungus! Once a mushroom fruiting body has reached maturiy, the cap is separated from the stipe and placed on aluminum foil. After some time, the gills will release the spores held on the basidium, and they will fall to the foil!
